Hard chrome: coating for safety-relevant components
Hard chrome coatings provide the necessary corrosion and wear protection to meet the requirements of safety-relevant components. The many years of experience of our qualified specialists in the aviation sector guarantee continuous and impeccable quality. Conscientious and precise work is required in the aviation sector, as is the complete documentation of individual process steps. Our electrolytes of the hard chrome process of the aerospace production line are spatially separated from the conventional hard chrome plating. The production line, specifically designed for the aerospace industry, is exclusively supervised by skilled workers and master craftsmen.

Aerospace standard: we are meeting the requirements
Within the scope of the auditing of our process by our aerospace customers on the basis of the respective aerospace standards (e.g. LN 29 748, AMS-QQ-C-320, LAT 4-3200), we receive the corresponding approval for the processing of the components. Accompanying production, we carry out adhesion, embrittlement (e.g. LAT 4-3202) and corrosion tests on replicate samples at regular intervals. The composition of the electrolyte of our hard chrome process of the aerospace production line corresponds to the aerospace standard.

Defined glass bead blasting (cleaning blasting) is of great importance for the component spectrum of aviation. The blasting process represents a pore-deep cleaning of scaled, oxidized or nitrided surfaces, that leads to an improvement in adhesion. A metallically pure surface is the basic prerequisite for optimum adhesion of the deposited hard chrome layer. Accordingly, the quality of the blasting is a decisive factor for the surface quality of the coating. Heat treatment (tempering) serves as a preventive measure with regard to the resistance of high-strength steel components to hydrogen-induced brittle fracture based on DIN 50969. The background is that during the coating process a co-deposition of hydrogen occurs. This can lead to hydrogen embrittlement, which can cause a fracture of the component when subjected to subsequent stress. To prevent this, the component is tempered in a furnace right after the chromium plating in order to deprive the absorbed hydrogen. The surface properties change very little in the process. It should be noted that the gas tightness of the layer also rises with increasing layer thickness.
The temperature profile and the treatment time of the tempering batches are conscientiously recorded in order to ensure the traceability of components according to the requirements. Our heat treatment process fulfils e.g. the standards AMS 2759/9B, LAT 7-4800, DIN 50969.
In our grinding centre, we use modern CNC technology to produce a wide variety of contours with high precision and quality. The technical application determines which surface properties must be fulfilled. We carry out precision grinding with the required diameters, form and position tolerances and the desired surface quality. With our know-how we implement your specification of the surface structure. As an additional corrosion protection after coating we preserve your components with Androx 3961 (PX 24). This is a mixture of surfactants, corrosion inhibitors and oil. The thin oil film bestows a good corrosion protection due to the water displacing properties.
